Mme Elizabeth Wacka Dies At 74

Late Mme Elizabeth Enanga Wacka nee Jackai

I was shocked this morning when I stumbled on  a funeral memorial page of our own  Mme Wacka Elizabeth, my English language teacher in GTHS Ombe.

According to information on the page, Ma Wacka died on January 23rd  2018, and her funeral will take place on the 9th and 10th of March 2018.

Mme Wacka is one teacher every ex-Ombe student especially those in the commercial section had an encounter with. She was one hell of inspiration and charismatic, despite the fact that she was a no-nonsense teacher.

"Ma Wacka I remember telling you when I was in Form III  that I wanted to become a teacher like you when I grew up. You smiled and told me that teaching was good, but that I was to go far beyond being a teacher. Without discouraging me, you gave me some very practical advice that has helped me a lot, and which is still helping. Thank you mama.

Though very hard/strict, you always crowned your anger with that forceful motherly smile, which we read like: 'I don't make friends with students, because I don't want them to take advantage of my friendship and lose concentration in my subject which was coefficient 4.' That of course was our perception, because as we grew into maturity, we actually understood that you wanted us to be hardworking for our good, the good of our family and  our school.

Many of us had the privilege of meeting you when you went on retirement, and got to understand the better part of you. When you saw how big and great some of had become, you felt proud to introduce us to anyone you were with, as your student/s.

I personally met you once when your health was already draining you away from this earth, but as usual, you were still strong and determined to fight whatever illness you had till the end.

It is quite unfortunate that you have to quit life's scene unannounced, but it was a great pleasure for us to have met you, learned from you and strive to become like you.

None of us has the right to question your Maker, who has called you back to Himself. Go well Madam, and may the Heavens grant you a smooth entry into eternity." Adieu Mme Wacka.
