Stephan Mbia Says The Problem In The National Team Is Not The Coach, But FECAFOOT And Minister Bidoung Mpkatt

Former Indomitable Lions Captain Stephan Mbia has blamed  FECAFOOT and the Minister of Sports and Physcial Education Pierre Ismael Bidoung Mpkatt for the poor management of the National team, and also doubts his return into the Lion's den.

Mbia granted an interview yesterday Tuesday December 19, to RFI on their Radio Foot International program.

The former Olympique de Marseille striker was made Captain of the Indomitable Lions in September 2014, after the Lions' poor performance in the 2014 Brazil World Cup.

The 31 years old said his career with the Lions came to a standstill, when the just dismissed coach Hugo Broos was recruited in March 2016.

Hugo Bross stopped calling Mbia for Cameroon matches, and that got tongues wagging about an existing war  between the two.

However, while the public thought Stephan Mbia has a beef with Bross, the International striker says Broos was not the problem, and blamed FECAFOOT and Minister Bidoung Mpkatt instead.  "It is very easy for you to fire a coach and to blame everything on him. You know, you were the Captain of a team, and one morning they don't call you up again. The Federation doesn't tell you why. The Minister of Sports and Physical Education doesn't tell you why. I was very disappointed as well as those close to me." He said.

Asked if he had the intention of returning to the National Team, Mbia doubted strongly; "I don't know, maybe because of the changes that have been made. I am focusing on my club for now, but we will see later. The African Nations Cup will be coming up in a year and the half. There is much to be done. If it has to be done for Cameroon why not."

On 29 January 2016 Mbia signed for Chinese club Hebei China Fortune. Mbia wrote on his Twitter page: "Proud to join Hebei China Fortune, ready for this adventure. Let's go."
