Barrister Agbor Balla Talks About The Arrests And Human Rights Abuses In Southern Cameroons, During A Conference And High-Level Policy Dialogue on "The Future of Governance in Africa" In Ghana

Barrister Agbor Balla was one of UNDP's special guests, during their last Conference and High-Level Policy Dialogue on "The Future of Governance in Africa", that took place on Sept. 29, 2017 in Ghana.

The conference that was organized by the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP), the UN family, Institute for Democracy and Electoral Assistance, saw the attendance of Civil Society organizations from all over the continent.

As lead speaker for the topic - "The Future of Justice and Human Rights in Africa : Independence and the Pursuit of Happiness", the Senior legal mind used the platform to address the arrests and human rights abuses in North West and South West Regions.

Barrister Agbor also had the opportunity to meet with Malawi's Former President, H.E. Dr. Joyce Banda, who too was a participant, and who has been involved in many grassroots projects with women and rights activism in her country.

This meeting was an opening for the banned Consortium President, to encourage Cameroonian girls and women to take up more roles in activism and leadership in our country.

Barrister Agbor did not fail to highlight the gross human rights abuses perpetrated on Southern Cameroonians, and the lack of justice for all those arrested and detained, which made him question the independence of the judiciary in Africa and gross human rights abuses.

Barrister Nkongho Felix Agbor Balla , has been on the critics chart on the home front, for not making bold moves in talking vulgarly and harshly against the government since his release from the Kondengui dungeon last August 30th 2017. Some even accused him of haven collected Billions of F CFA bribe from the government to seal his lips. Other media sources framed that he was receiving death threats from secessionists, which unfortunately was not true, because Barrister Balla himself debunked the fake allegations.

He has though been treading cautiously, while loudly criticizing the government for the bloodbath initiated in Southern Cameroons. He has been visiting the prisons where anglophones arrested in connection with the ongoing crisis are detained, and was recently seen in Kumba, condoling with the family of one of Oct 1. victims, who was shot to death by the merciless soldiers stationed all over the English speaking regions of the country.

'This struggle is my life. I breath the struggle, I sleep with the struggle, I dine with the struggle, and will rather die, than quit the struggle," he once told this reporter on phone.
