Former Prime Minister Peter Mafany Musonge, who in his capacity, doubles as President of the National Commission for the Promotion of Bilingualism and Multiculturalism(NCPBM), Senator,  Grand Chancellor of National Orders, Member of the CPDM Central Committee and President of the CPDM Senate Parliamentary Group, has resigned from being a Senator, after so many critics on the accumulated functions he occupies, while others are with no title or job.

His resignation was made public today Wednesday July 5, 2017 by the President of the Upper House Marcel Niat Njifenji. According to the announcement, the reason for this resignation is to enable Peter Mafany Musonge to concentrate on his functions  as the head of the NCPBM.

Rumours had it during the March 2017 Parliamentary session that Musonge had been pressure to resign as a Senator, and since Social Media had already had it worked up, this decision was delayed from the public, and only comes out now, to qualify the previous rumours as 'Fake news'.

Born in Muea in the South West Region of Cameroon on December 3, 1942, Peter Mafany Musonge was the 6th Prime Minister of Cameroon from 19 September 1996 – 8 December 2004He was kicked out as  Prime Minister after a cabinet reshuffle which followed Biya's successful 2004 reelection, for which he served as campaign manager.

Member of the CPDM Central Committee, President Biya appointed him as Grand Chancellor of National Orders on April 4, 2007. In May 2013, he was appointed into the Senate of Cameroon, among the 30 Senators to receive their seats by presidential appointment;

Speculations were high that  he would replace Niat as President of the Senate, but then he was instead  designated President of the CPDM's Senate Parliamentary Group.

On March 15 2017, he was appointed President of the National Commission for the Promotion of Bilingualism and Multiculturalism (NCPBM) at the age of 75, whereas he is long over due retirement.

He is one of President Paul Biya's most loyal servant of all time who still enjoys the privileges of being Fidèle to the Grand Master and Lion King of Etoudi, and whose liberty is guaranteed even after his services will no longer be needed.
