Minister Youssouf nee Adidja Alim's Convoy Kills 7 Years Old Child In Mbonge Kumba

The Minister of Basic Education Youssouf nee Adidja Alim's working visit to the South West Region yesterday 13th June 2017, ended on a very sad note.

Minister Adidja Alim went to the South West Region to inspect the writing of the First School Leaving Certificate (FSLC) and its Francophone equivalent, the Certificat d’Etudes Primaires (CEP) exams which kicked off yesterday 13 June, 2017, and ended today the 14th.

After visiting the writing sub-centres in Buea and Muyuka in the Fako Division, the Minister took off for Kumba in the Meme Division, where unfortunately, one of the many vehicles in her convoy crushed a 7 year old child to death along the  Buea- Kumba  highway,  precisely in Mbonge.

The 7 years old victim Beckline, was crossing the road, when she met with her untimely death.

The population of Mbonge, rose up in anger, and set the Government School  in Mbonge on fire.

The Minister was forced to cut short her meeting, to take part in a crisis meeting with the DO for Meme.

She later went to visit the parents of little Beckline, and promised to assist them during the funeral.

The family says the government must pay them the sum of 10 000 000 F CFA(Ten Million Francs) as compensation for the death of their child.

The remains of little Beckline is in the Kumba District hospital mortuary, pending official funeral programme.
