President Biya Gets Super Generous, Accuses CAMRAIL For The Eseka Train Crash, And Offer A One Billion Francs Assistance To Surviving Victims And Relatives Of Those Who Lost Their Lives

The long awaited results of the the cause of the Eseka 21st October 2016 train crash has finally been made public, and Government says  Camrail, is totally responsibility for the crash that took away 80 lives according to official reports, and left 600 others with mild and severe injuries.

Furthermore, President Biya has ordered that the sum of 1 000 000 000 F CFA(1 Billion Francs)be made available to the victims or their relatives, as complimentary assistance from the State.

This big announcement was made through a Press Release signed by the Secretary General at the Presidency Ferdinand Ngoh Ngoh today Tuesday May 23 2017, seven months after the fatal accident.

'Regarding the situation of the accident victims, the President of the Republic has taken cognizance of CAMRAIL's actions undertaken or planned to compensate the families of the deceased, and provide financial assistance to the injured. He urges that the process be finalized at the earliest opportunity'. Part of the Press Release read.

Few days after the accident, CAMRAIL engaged in handing the sum of 500 000 F CFA(One Million Five Hundred Thousand Francs) to families of victims who lost their lives during the accident. 'These money was not part of any compensation for the damages, but an assistance for the funeral of those who died in the crash'. Camrail told the public.

'Camrail was making sure  the compensation be speedily made available to the families and victims'. Ever since then, the families of the victims have not heard anything again from the railway corporation.

President Biya's decision, comes in one week, after a case was opened against Camrail at the Douala Hight Court in Bonanjo. The families that sued Camrail are requesting that the corpses of their death relatives, be handed over to them, because neither was their names among those who died, but they boarded the 12 Intercity Train, that left Yaounde for Douala that fateful October 21st 2016.
