Marafa Hamidou Yaya encourages the Anglophones to continue fighting, while accusing Paul Biya for being the cause of the anglophone problem

Marafa Hamidou Yaya

Former Minister of Territorial Administration and Decentralization Marafa Hamidou Yaya whom the UN calls 'Political Prisoner', has written a twin note, to his former boss and booh H.E President Paul Biya, accusing him of being the cause of the present Anglophone crisis, and a 'fire-fanning' note to the Cameroonian people, calling on the Francophones to join the Anglophones in fighting what he calls 'a Cameroonian problem'.

From his Kondengui prison cell where he is serving a 2o years jail term, Marafa says the problem is no longer an anglophone problem, but a general Cameroon problem.

Marafa Hamidou Yaya

Dear Cameroonians,

In recent months our Anglophone brothers and sisters have being demanding for their fair share of treatments by the current government.

I say it is no longer an Anglophone Problem but a Cameroonian problem because Francophone Cameroonians cannot be going about their businesses thinking that Cameroon is on the right track, when their Anglophone brothers and sisters are suffering.

I call on all the people of Cameroon to join the Anglophones in their fight for freedom and equal opportunities as francophone Cameroonians.

The following must be in place in other for a peaceful solution to the ongoing problem.

Dear Cameroonian
  • No school throughout Cameroon until the Anglophone teachers demands are met.
  • No senior Administrators in the Anglophone Regions who are Francophone and who cannot express themselves in both English and French. With time the Anglophone should Have Anglophone Governors in their Regions. Some people will say l am dividing Cameroon but my answer to them is no because when you do not understand another person culture how do you treat them.
  • The Anglophone Law should be maintain without any changes. The Francophone Judges and Lawyers in the Anglophone Regions must be able to practice the common law in English not bringing the French law and practice to the Anglophone Regions.
  • All majors roads in all ten Regions of Cameroon should be repair especially those of the Anglophone Regions
Finally l want to thank all the leaders and the Anglophone people for their peaceful sit down strike yesterday the 9th without any harm to both people and property. The fight must go on until the government meet the above demands.

A conference should be call with all the key players involve with the head of States to sit down to find a peaceful solutions to the Anglophone problem with no intimidation from the government.

To his former boss, best booh and tea partner President Paul Biya, Marafa wrote:

Mr President

Marafa H Yaya

I know that you are having sleepless night due to the ongoing problem in the the Anglophone Regions. There are your people and you must talk to them as Cameroonian and give them their fair share and listen to their demands.

You are the cause of all these problems because had you call on them for sit down at the start Cameroon would not have being in this mess.

This is not an Anglophone problem but a Cameroon problem. Listen to the people. the wind of change is with them not you.

Long live Cameroon Long the people of Cameroon.

Marafa Hamidou Yaya was arrested on the 16th of April 2012 for co-operating with Yves Michel Fotso, Inoni Ephraim, Atangana Mebara and the others to embezzle funds destined for the purchase of a presidential plane.
After series of hearings, the Special Criminal Court(SCC) declared him guilty of 'intellectual complicity' and the embezzlement of '24 Billion F CFA', and slapping him with a 25 years jail term on the 22nd of September 2012.
Marafa appealed this decision, and his lawyers went to the Apex Court, who on Wednesday May 18th May 2016, confirmed the decision of the SCC, but reduced his jail term to 20 years.
Marafa Hamidou Yaya has never stopped shouting to the top of his voice that he is innocent, attributing his incalceration to his 'political aspirations'.
