Cameroon - Eseka Train Derailment - Train Driver say CAMRAIL and Government knew the 9 Chinese wagons had no breaks

72 hours gone, and still yet the exact number of those who lost their lives in the Eseka train accident of Friday Oct. 21st 2016 is still unknown. Official news sources talk of 88 , while on the spot sources reveal that 300 hundred bodies were removed from the crash site that same day.

According to a trending post online the tears of the uncountable bereaved families have pushed the train driver and some Camrail's staff to expose their own version of the story.

According to the driver, the train from Ngaoundere linked up with that of Yaounde which had 7 wagons plus 9 other wagons Chinese wagons that were on standby. The train station was jam packed with passengers who could not used the Dla-Yde-Dla collapsed bridge.

Minister Mebe Ngo'o who came visiting the Station that morning after the highway collapsed, requested that the train transports as much passengers and goods as possible.

Since overloading is against the working ethics of CAMRAIL, the driver requested for a Special Authorization to cover him and more especially, because the Chinese wagons that were added did not have breaks and everyone in CAMRAIL knew that because some staff were fired when they contested the purchase of these wagons in the days Minister Robert Nkili.

After receiving the Special Authorization from the hierarchy, the driver took off with the train overloaded with identified and non identified passengers. The breaks of the Chinese wagons were not working, and so the other wagons that had good breaks were helping the train to move on without hitches, until while descending the Makak hill, the train automatically increased its speed and 4 of the Chinese wagons cut from behind. Seeing the terrible speed of the train, the driver accelerated further, to avoid being hitted by the detached wagons that were heavily speeding behind him.

He finally succeeded in entering the Eseka Station without stopping, and that is when the ten other wagons cut off and fell. Miraculously the remaining 2 stopped on the rails, and these 2 were transferred to the Douala train station at about 3:50 a.m the next day.

According to CAMRAIL's agents, the number of death bodied that were pulled out that same day was about 300, before counting those that were pulled out by the crane. So evaluating the total number of people who died, we are counting at least 400 corpses, with more than 200 unidentified.

Official Reports have put the death toll at 88, which is questionable, but what can we do?. Can we fight against those who have guns and shields?
